Getting back into balance
For me, as a part of mindful, healthy living it is important to always find balance in life. However, in today’s busy life a lot of people are out of balance. Rushing, busy days, no time, feeling stressed. What is missing in the lives of most people today is taking time out for themselves to focus on their inner being, to nourish their body and soul and connect to your innermost true self.
I am a passionate Yin Yoga teacher and energy healer and my calling is to assist you to slow down, bring balance back into your life and learn to listen to your body through the practice of Yin Yoga, Reiki, and Sound Healing.
How does Yin Yoga work?
Everything in life can be described in terms of yin and yang (or opposites), happiness and sadness, day and night, sun and moon. We need balance. Yin is female, Yang is male, Yin is passive, and Yang is active. In Yoga and life, the balance is often lost. There is an overemphasis on yang.
All forms of exercise can be classified as Yin or Yang based on the tissues they target. Exercises that focus on muscle and blood are yang (Vinyasa Yoga, Hatha Yoga, Power Yoga, Cycling, Running, Surfing, etc.), and exercises that focus on connective tissues are Yin (Yin Yoga).
In Yin Yoga the muscles are relaxed and it targets connective tissue (fascia, ligaments, and tendons). Yin Yoga is no exercise, but movements are slow and static, and you focus on holding postures for a long time.
Yin teaches you how to approach life and difficult situations. Yin Yoga encourages you to take time for yourself, relax, accept yourself, find to yourself, release blocked emotions, be mindful, and allow your body to heal.
Yin Yoga is soothing, calming, and nourishing and you become more flexible in the joints, but you also become mentally calmer. Flexibility gives us a feeling of ease and lightness in the body.
How I found Yin Yoga or how Yin Yoga found me
My real love for Yin Yoga started in August 2016 when attending Yin Yoga classes at the Yogabarn in Ubud, Bali. Then and there I decided I want to teach Yin Yoga and introduce everyone to this magical practice. A few months later my Yoga teacher journey began in Goa, India where I did a 200hr multi-style teacher training including Yin. In June 2018 I went back to India – this time to Dharamkot in the far north – for a 100hr Yin Yoga teacher training and my passion for Yin Yoga only grew.
Yin Yoga gives you an opportunity to connect with yourself, slow down, and get back into balance.
Many people especially in the more western world see Yoga as exercise. A class of postures – also called asanas. However, for me, Yoga is so much more. Yoga means union – union of the mind and body. And I believe in integrating more than just one part of yoga into my classes for a wholesome practice to not only find strength in your body but also connect to your mental, spiritual and emotional body.

Sound Healing
Since my journey as a yoga teacher began, I was continuously drawn more and more toward alternative ways of healing and I was looking for ways to add to my knowledge and skills. During my travels to Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and India I joined a lot of sound healing classes which I absolutely loved. On my visit to India in 2019, I took my first course in sound healing. Back in India in 2023 I completed my second Sound healing training to deepen my practice.
Sound healing is a perfect addition to Yin Yoga as it brings healing on a cellular level, balances the chakras and allows for deep relaxation and rest, and assists me on my mission to bring balance back into people’s lives and promote self-healing.
How does Sound Healing work?
There is a variety of instruments that can be used for sound healing as well as your voice. I use Himalayan Singing Bowls (vibro-acoustic bowls) from India as well as a gong, tingsha and rattles. The singing bowls are hand-made out of seven different metals, and each bowl has a unique sound and vibration
Sound waves stimulate and revitalize the harmony and self-healing process of your body each time in different ways. The metal bowls produce a deep, penetrating sound that is used to relax and repair the mind and body.
Sound therapy is essentially the process of healing the mind and body through music, tones, frequencies, and vibrations. The principles of sound therapy are rooted in transitioning the body’s vibrations to an optimum state.
The most important principle of sound healing is considered RESONANCE. In the context of human healing, resonance can be described as the frequency of vibration that is natural to a specific organ or body system (such as the heart or respiratory system). At the cellular level, all cells emit sound frequencies as a consequence of their metabolic processes. The resonance principle implies cellular absorption of the healing sounds. In sound healing, resonance principles are engaged to re-harmonize cells that have been imprinted with disruptive frequencies (e.g. toxic substances, emotional traumas, etc.).
Our bodies resonate efficiently with sound waves since the majority of our composition is water and the denser molecules in water allow to transmit energy faster from one particle to the next. During sound healing, the body is brought back into balance by creating a harmonious resonance between the healing sound and the vibration of the body.
The sound of the Himalayan singing bowls also cleanses and balances each of the 7 chakras (energy centers of the body). In the Indian system of healing, when a physical dysfunction is in place, one or more chakras are considered to be blocked or unbalanced. Through sound healing, all chakras will be brought back into balance. The sounds and vibrations take you on a transformative, healing, and relaxing journey.

Reiki Energy Healing:
As part of my journey of deepening my understanding and learning about healing modalities, I was guided toward the practice of Reiki. On my last stay in India in 2019, I completed Levels 1 and 2 of Reiki. The process of Reiki is almost impossible to put into words, it has to be experienced and felt and I would describe it as purely magical.
Reiki is a Japanese word meaning “Universal Life Energy”. Reiki is a form of alternative therapy commonly referred to as energy healing. It emerged in Japan in the late 1800’s.
We are alive because life force is flowing through us. Life force flows within the physical body through pathways called chakras, meridians, and nadis. It also flows around us in a field of energy called the aura. Life force nourishes the organs and cells of the body, supporting them in their vital functions. Energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or possibly emotional pain. In time, these energy blocks can cause illness.
Energy healing aims to help the flow of energy and remove blocks. Improving the flow of energy around the body can enable relaxation, reduce pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness.
Reiki can aid relaxation, assist in the body’s natural healing processes, and develop emotional, mental, and spiritual well-being.
It is also said to induce deep relaxation, help people cope with difficulties, relieve emotional stress, and improve overall well-being.
While Reiki is spiritual in nature, it is not a religion. It has no dogma, and there is nothing you must believe in order to receive a Reiki treatment.
A single session will usually give you an energy boost and balance your chakras and adjust the body back to normal. Four days to three weeks after the treatment a great change will take place within the body. It is absolutely harmless, therefore, it is a practical and safe treatment.
For more serious ailments or chronic illnesses, a min. of 3-4 sessions will be necessary, depending on the specific ailment.
