Meeting a lot of people around the globe, a common thing I hear them say, is, that they find me inspiring – for the way I live my life, make bold decisions and always stay true to myself; they find me courageous and my stories inspire them and they wouldn’t know if they had the guts to do what I did.
A lot of people wish they were more courageous and would dare more – but don’t do it out of fear. I often meet people, that feel so stuck in their lives and routines, that they forget to question what they are doing or who they are and they forget they have a choice to make different decisions in their lives.
“A ship in harbor is safe — but that is not what ships are built for.” — John A. Shedd
However, I didn’t always dare that much, in fact, I had lots of fears and doubts.
I grew up in Germany and had a pretty standard “ordinary” life until after my studies in September 2008, when I went for a professional internship in Cape Town, South Africa for 4,5 months. That is what I had planned, however, things turned out quite differently: I had the best time of my life and fell in love with Cape Town and South Africa, and didn’t want to leave. The voice in my heart was so much stronger than my mind and intellect, so I made a very bold and risky decision – for the first time in my life – and decided not to go back to Germany for a well-paid job, but go back to Cape Town to do a job that sounded terrible and paid near to nothing so that I could stay for a little longer. That was the first time I followed my heart and ignored my reasoning mind and it is now more than 14 years ago and I am still in Cape Town and never regretted this decision.
At the beginning of 2019, I made my second biggest bold decision – quitting my pretty amazing, well-paid job, which had been a dream job for many years, and set off to travel the world for a year. On my own. Without a real plan. Taking things as they come – day by day – and seeing what the universe has in store for me. On this trip, I also decided to not go back to working in a corporate job but instead freeing myself and diving straight into the unknown! Well, what can I say, it was one of the best decisions of my life and you can read about it in my blog.
How to change your life! and How to change your life – part 2
Of course, this is my story and my path, and your dreams or your idea of your best life might look quite different. But we all have the ability to grow, learn and change and make different decisions every day.
My stories are intended for you to find inspiration and feel challenged to open your mind to something new. To question how you have been living your life or seeing things until now and to hopefully take my posts as an inspiration and a stepping stone to make changes to your life that are aligned with your true self and living your best life.
My vision and dream are that everyone becomes a bit more of a loving rebel. More self-love, more love for others, acting from a place of love and living your life by always finding your own truth and following your own path rather than simply following others or believing things as they are said or written.
